The Crook'd Staff is a captivating adventure that begins in British-occupied Ireland in 1823. Following the lives of Evan Ryan and his sister, Ana, and the compelling circumstances surrounding their immigration to America, the reader is brought into the wild fur trade days of early St. Paul, MN. Evan then steps into the lives of the Lakota and Cheyenne during the zenith of their culture in the 1830s and '40s. With these Native Americans, Evan again shares the cross-cultural values of honor, commitment, responsibility, and love. The legacy of the crook'd staff then passes to succeeding generations as the novel, but not the family's story, ends in 1891.
