SLR was born in Wisconsin and raised in the Connecticut shoreline town of Madison.Sarah Lou was a Music Education major at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She combined that with an incredible work ethic and energy to record a 5-song debut EP Emerald City, then followed that with a full-length album of originals called Ruby Red Shoes (2010), produced by BlackHawk frontman Henry Paul, one of Sarah Lou's most enthusiastic supporters and mentors.
