The year was 1860 the biginning of he Civil War. Andrew Moore had struggled to find a a place where he could be safe from arrest and from prying eyes and too many questions. He hoped that the land he purchased in west central Wisconsin, in the newly formed county of Dunn, near the Village of Eau Claire would provide a safe haven.
