According to local baseball historian Jason Christopherson, "The 1952 Eau Claire Bears were an enigma. They combined a powerful offense with a solid pitching staff and a better than average defense ... but they were only able to manage a third place finish and an early exit from the playoffs.... What this team did achieve, though, was to save baseball in Eau Claire.... The tear the Bears went on after Henry "Hank" Aaron arrived boosted attendance dramatically and allowed the franchise to stay operational."
