Mark Proksch is the brainchild behind Kitty Vermont as he handles all songwriting, instrumentation, and recording duties himself. By releasing his 1999 debut EP, entitled Wasted Summer, Proksch experimented with a heavy synth orchestration that looked up to the songwriting abilities of Stephin Merrit and Brian Wilson. Resulting in a set of melancholy, electro indie pop, Motorcoat Records would eventually release Kitty Vermont's first album, Wonderful You, the following year.
